Fall 2007 Workshop and Class Schedule Gentle Yoga Class at Mieko's Fitness Lake City Way Sundays 4:30 - 6:00 PM & Fridays 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM Mieko's Members Only Explorations in Mindfulness 6-week series Tuesdays October 2nd - November 6th from 7 PM - 9 PM at Two Dog Yoga Studio Cost: $150 Healing involves the process of making whole. In order to heal it is necessary to accept all parts of ourselves, and recognize that we are more than our physical bodies, our emotional reactions, or our thoughts. Explorations in Mindfulness is journey into insight and self-awareness, as we inquire into who we truly are, how we think of and define ourselves, and what it means to live in a state of peace regardless of symptoms, illness or disease. Explorations in Mindfulness, facilitated by Brad Lichtenstein, ND, is a six-week group inquiry into the depths of ourselves, and consists of interactive discussions, individual and partnered exercises, meditations on movement and breath, and weekly practices to refine our skills at self-perception. During each two-hour session new concepts will be introduced and explored. By the end of Explorations in Mindfulness, you will have learned more about yourself and your reactions (mental, emotional, physical, and behavioral), skills to break free from dysfunctional patterns, and ways to make new choices in order to live a fuller, happier and healthier life. All are welcome. No experience with yoga or meditation is necessary. Only a willingness to be present and explore is required. Monthly Yoga Nidra - A PranaPlay Meditation Experience Monday evenings: September 17th, October 22nd, November 19th, December 17th from 7:15 - 8:45 PM at Two Dog Yoga Studio Cost: $44 for series, $16 per session, drop-ins and punch cards welcome Yoga Nidra, also known as "conscious deep sleep," is a guided meditative practice used to induce profound relaxation which allows you to awaken from the slumber of daily existence and uncover the true essence of who you are. During the practice of yoga nidra, you lie on your back, in savasana (corpse poses), and remain quiet and motionless. This stillness of body invites your senses to withdraw from the external world and turn inward. You are then directed to focus your attention on your physical sensations, breath, emotions, and thoughts. As you move your consciousness in this way, your body and mind let go of tension and you can release into a deeper state of relaxation. When practiced regularly, yoga nidra calms the nervous system, reduces stress and anxiety, facilitates regeneration and healing, strengthens the immune system, and provides profound clarity and awareness. During these monthly sessions, you will be guided through a 45-minute yoga nidra to experience first hand the art and power of this meditative yogic practice. All are welcome. No experience or familiarity with Hatha yoga is required. *Only a little snack or small meal is recommended before yoga nidra. Science and Poetry of Breath - A PranaPlay Breathing Exploration Sunday, December 2nd from 1 - 4 PM at Two Dog Yoga Studio Cost: $35 How inspired are you? What inspires you? And moreover, how do you inspire? To be inspired means to breathe in life. Recognizing that there is more to the breath than the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide, in this introductory workshop on the Science and Poetry of Breath we will explore all shapes and textures of breathing. We will review the basic anatomy and physiology of breathing, discover the relationship between sound and breath, review reported benefits of particular breathing techniques, evaluate the medical/healing benefits of breathing and discover our current breathing pattern and learn new ways to breathe that promote vitality, health and peace of mind. An open mind and an ability to breathe are all that are required. Pre-registration recommended for all workshops.
